We are looking for outstanding, dynamic physiotherapists to join the team in a freelance capacity, to support the expansion and diversification of what Neuro Heroes can offer to the neuro community. This invigorating work will bring you to the forefront of virtual rehabilitation, and a community who need creative and inspiring therapists to help them get the most out of exercise. You will be supported clinically by our Principal Physiotherapists Laura Douglas and Anna Kharin.
Summary:
The post holder will run (an) online exercise group(s) for clients with neurological conditions under the direction of the Neuro Heroes Team using our established model and novel approach. They will offer email support to clients in when required, and provide administration support relating to their classes on a weekly basis. The post holder will provide clinical cover for other sessions affected by annual leave where possible and assist with company or relevant community events as able. The successful physiotherapist will offer excellent care and rehabilitation to group (and if desired 1:1 face to face) rehabilitation clients.
The post offers the candidate the opportunity to learn new skills in remote rehabilitation and group exercise therapy, collaborate with other therapists to design exercise sessions, and use their creativity and enthusiasm to motivate and train clients from around the UK.
Hours:
Classes are 1 hour long at a set time in the week with a small amount of associated administration. Initial commitment to one regular weekly session is required.
Salary:
£40 per hour for online groups with opportunities to increase over time.
Location:
Online exercise classes via Zoom and administrative duties may be done from home. If further face to face 1:1 rehabilitation work is desired, sessions will take place at the client's own home or in their local community.

To the Principal Physiotherapists.

JOB PURPOSE
To lead one or more evidence-based online exercise groups that are dynamic, exciting and educational in nature, using the Neuro Heroes approach.
To evaluate assessments and use clinical reasoning and judgement to maintain safety of groups.
To contribute to the development of Neuro Heroes groups through CPD, feeding back to the team and to implement changes to groups following feedback from participants and team members.
To provide both clinical and administrative support relating to your group and it’s participants.
There is close liaison with all members of the team, and a comprehensive clinical training programme and supervision with our Principal Physiotherapists, to assist in your continued professional development.
CLINICAL and MANAGEMENT
To ensure high quality, effective physiotherapy provision to clients attending online neurological exercise sessions or face to face rehabilitation sessions, using clinical reasoning and highly specialist skills to adapt treatment as required.
To be responsible for the safe management of clients referred into your groups, including analysing assessments and other referral information for suitability for particular sessions.
To assist with development of new working practices and local guidelines and keep abreast of new techniques and research in relation to the management of patients with neurological conditions.
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of clinical risk, knowledge of indications and precautions of chosen approach in line with national and organisation clinical guidelines, protocols and pathways where they exist.
Prepare and maintain a safe and clean environment for treatment, including risk assessing participants’ exercise environments when sessions are delivered remotely.
Deliver individual and group treatment sessions incorporating advanced adaptations and progressions appropriate to the client and their condition, using clinical reasoning skills to tailor clients’ exercises to their needs in a group environment.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of strength and conditioning principles within neurological rehabilitation.
To use recognised outcome measures to evaluate the effect of the physiotherapy interventions and ensure the treatment programmes are progressing appropriately.
To work in partnership with clients and their families/carers to support them to achieve their individualised goals.
Work within the guidelines of good practice and codes of conduct of the CSP and the HCPC.
Follow all Neuro Heroes Health and Safety policies.
Respect individuality, cultural and religious diversity and contribute to a service sensitive to these needs.
Maintain comprehensive, accurate, electronic client records in a timely manner in line with company policy and professional standards.
Maintain electronic clinical attendance registers for groups and follow up with participants in their absence or after an adverse event.
Exercise good personal time management, punctuality and maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Have a working knowledge of IT systems including excellent word processing and spreadsheet skills using Google Drive. Be competent using Zoom and be able to navigate the internet.
COMMUNICATION
Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, self-awareness and empathy in all communications.
To be able to engage and motivate patients through effective communication skills during face to face and remote therapy sessions.
Provide clients, families and other carers with specialist advice or instruction to promote the understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure safe self-management.
Communicate effectively with clients and carers, using a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools, to maximise their understanding of their condition and aims of Neuro Heroes sessions, also manage barriers that may hinder communication e.g aphasia, cognitive difficulties and hearing impairments.
Communicate information effectively and appropriately to carers and carers where English may not be their first language.
Determine the participants’ understanding of treatment options to ensure valid, informed consent is gained.
Communicate with the other members of the team, regarding changes in participants’ condition or medical history.
Build and maintain strong, professional links with referrers and other clinical and professional services relevant to Neuro Heroes.
To represent Neuro Heroes at regional events or meetings, or in relevant working groups and support best practice at Neuro Heroes through liaison with other regional specialists/colleagues.
TRAINING and SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
Attend organised training sessions, including all statutory and mandatory training and comply with training requirements and company policies.
To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities, using reflective practice and maintain a portfolio that indicates personal development.
To undertake clinical audit, report on findings and after discussion with the clinical lead, implement changes and re-audit.
To have a sound knowledge of Clinical Governance and have an active role in clinical effectiveness and audit within the company.
Prepare and participate in lectures, seminars and demonstrations to other physiotherapists, student physiotherapists and other disciplines as appropriate, internal and external to the company
Foster, facilitate and assist with the development of evidence-based projects.
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply it within all aspects of the role.
Have awareness of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement these in line with the company’s policies, including the reporting of incidents and first aid requirements.
Observe strict confidentiality in respect of any information regarding clients or information relating to the running of the company.
Record and monitor accurate data and information relating to the charity which will be utilised in the provision of care and the development of the service.
Effectively use IT support systems to collect, collate, analyse and interpret data.
Ensure all work is carried out to the expected standard level and adheres to professional body standards and codes of conduct.
Comply with the requirements of employees under the Health and Safety at Work Act and report any accident/hazards to the leadership team.
